NFL Week 11 Power Rankings: Steelers Back In Top Five In ESPN's Latest

How the fortunes of an NFL team change from week to week. Last week at this time we were talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers second loss of the 2011 season to the rival Baltimore Ravens, and the difficult challenge they faced to win the division having lost their first two divisional games. Fast forward one week and the Steelers have jumped from third place in the AFC North to back on top of the standings thanks to Baltimore’s road loss in Seattle.

Let’s see where the panel of ESPN writers ranked Pittsburgh following their 24-17 road win against a Bengals team that had previously won its past five games.

Rank: 4

The Bengals, meanwhile, were bumped down to No. 11 from No. 1, and the Ravens fells three spots to No. 6 for their puzzling loss to the Seahawks.

NFL Week 11 Power Rankings: Steelers Crack Top Five in CBS' Latest

I give credit to Pete Prisco for not overreacting to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the game’s final seconds. Prisco didn’t slide Pittsburgh too far down in his Power Rankings last week, nor should he have. A week later following the Steelers’ solid 24-17 road win over the streaking Bengals, Prisco did not bump the Steelers up from his previous position of number five, but he kept them in his top five and had this little quip to say about the six-time champions’ ability to contend again this year.

Pittsburgh Steelers: 7-3
Rank: 5
Last Week: 5
Prisco: It’s funny how a week can change things. Why do I get the feeling they will be playing late in January?

Prisco did however bump Cincinnati down three spots from No. 10 to No. 13, and he had Baltimore remain at No. 4 despite their head-scratching road loss out of conference to Seattle. That sounds about right, really. Baltimore did beat Pittsburgh twice after all.
