2011 NFL Schedule Released: Pittsburgh Steelers With Five Primetime Television Games

After a long day of waiting, the NFL has released the 2011 schedule. We already knew who the six-time Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers were scheduled to play, we just didn't know the specifics of how the schedule would look. And really, the sequencing of games matters quite a bit. For instance, last year the Steelers played three consecutive road games before hosting the New England Patriots. You can't convince me that the Steelers were a bit flat that night after playing away from Heinz Field for three consecutive weeks.

But that was last year. Let's see what's on tap for the 2011 season....provided there is a 2011 NFL season.

Week 1, Sunday Sept. 11: @ Baltimore Ravens

Week 2, Sunday Sept. 18: vs. Seattle Seahawks

Week 3, Sunday Sept. 25th (Sunday Night Football): @ Indianapolis Colts

Week 4, Sunday Oct. 2nd: @ Houston Texans

Week 5, Sunday Oct. 9th: vs. Tennessee Titans

Week 6, Sunday Oct. 16th: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 7, Sunday Oct. 23rd: @ Arizona Cardinals

Week 8, Sunday Oct. 30th: vs. New England Patriots

Week 9, Sunday Nov. 6th (Sunday Night Football): vs. Baltimore Ravens

Week 10, Sunday Nov. 13th: @ Cincinnati Bengals

Week 11: BYE Week

Week 12, Sunday Nov. 27th (Sunday Night Football): @ Kansas City Chiefs

Week 13, Sunday Dec. 4th: vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Week 14, Thursday Dec. 8th: vs. Cleveland Browns

Week 15, Monday Dec. 19th: @ San Francisco 49ers

Week 16, Saturday Dec. 24th: vs. St. Louis Rams

Week 17, Sunday Jan. 1st: @. Cleveland Browns

Stay tuned for more commentary and analysis on this year's slate of games both here and at Behind the Steel Curtain.

2011 NFL Schedule: List Of Steelers' Opponents

The 2011 NFL schedule won’t be released until 7:00 PM Tuesday night, but you don’t have to wait to find out who the Steelers will actually be playing. Here’s a list of the Steelers’ 2011 opponents.

Steelers 2011 Home Games:

Steelers 2011 Road Games:

Obviously, the Steelers will play their divisional opponents (Baltimore, Cleveland and Cincinnati) both at home and on the road. They’ll also play the entire AFC South and the weak NFC West, along with the other AFC division winners (the Patriots and Chiefs). All we’re waiting to hear about Tuesday night is what order the games will be played in, and which games will be played as Sunday afternoon games.

Steelers' Ryan Clark Talks About Release Of NFL Schedule

Steelers safety Ryan Clark talked about the upcoming release of the Steelers’ 2011 schedule on 93.7 The Fan this morning. Here’s what he had to say.

I like Sunday games. I like Sunday one o’clock games, to be honest. I think it gives you the most time to rest, it gives you the most time off your feet, time spent with your family, so [unintelligible]. Prime time games are cool. Prime time games on the road are the worst, just because you start late on your preparation for the next game, you start late on your recovery. So that’s the hardest part about that, but the only think I think about prime time games is if I’m gonna have … a road prime time game, put it early in the season so we can get it done. And I don’t want to play prime time in Cleveland, though, in December. You don’t want those cold night games. But other than that, it’s no big deal.

The Steelers’ schedule will be released this evening.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 Schedule: NFL Will Announce Schedule Tuesday

Even though the NFL has locked out it's players and an agreement on an new CBA is not directly on the horizon, the NFL will announce it's 2011 Schedule on Tuesday night. It will be released at 7 p.m., and you can watch release specials that break it down on both NFL Network and ESPN. The NFL has already released the preseason schedule, and you can find the Steelers' here.

The release of the schedule is probably a strong indication that the NFL and the Union are confident that they will be able to reach an agreement before this lockout causes them to miss any games. But there really isn't any way to know if that is actually true.

We'll be covering the Steelers' schedule in this stream, but for more on the NFL schedule as a whole, head over to the NFL page at SB Nation. And for more on the Steelers, check out our Steelers blog Behind The Steel Curtain.
