The Trib reports that, if things go really, really badly in Sunday's regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers could turn to Hines Ward ... at quarterback.
↵Dennis Dixon is the Steelers' third quarterback, but the Steelers aren't sure whether he'll be on the roster for the game. That leaves Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch. In a nightmare scenario where both got injured, Ward would take over.
↵Not that Ward is necessarily very confident in his skills if that possibility should arise.
↵↵↵"I am just taking snaps just in case," said Ward, who last played quarterback in college. "We don't have an option right now. I can hand the ball off, but if it comes down to me, we are really in bad shape."
↵
Well, let's just hope the Steelers don't get to that point. Ward played a bit of quarterback for Georgia back in 1995.
