Rashard Mendenhall Injury Update: Steelers Running Back May Have Torn ACL, Expected To Miss Wild Card Game, According To Reports

The PIttsburgh Steelers picked up one final win in the last game of the 2011 NFL season on Sunday with a victory over the Cleveland Browns. As they get ready to face the Denver Broncos in the first round of the playoffs, however, they are beginning to learn that their game against the Browns may have cost them something else.

Featured running back Rashard Mendenhall came out of the game early with a right knee injury and was helped to the locker room. It was later reported that Mendenhall was scheduled to undergo an MRI to assess the extent of the damage.

On Sunday night, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stated he did not expect Mendenhall to return in time for the wild card game against the Broncos.

Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review later reported that Tomlin had suggested Mendenhall might have a torn ACL. He will be replaced in any missed games by Isaac Redman.
