NFL Mock Draft 2012: Another Mock Has Steelers Taking Kelechi Osemele

This 2012 NFL mock draft by Steve Wyche at NFL.com features a top five of Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III (with the Cleveland Browns trading with the St. Louis Rams for the pick), Matt Kalil, Justin Blackmon (that’s the Rams) and Morris Claiborne. Penn State’s Devon Still goes to the Panthers at No. 8, as he often has recently.

The Steelers take Iowa State offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele at No. 24. Osemele certainly makes sense from a positional standpoint, but I never seem to see any other teams picking Osemele in the first round, and in longer mock drafts, he often drops into the middle of the second round. Need is a consideration for the Steelers in the first round, but it’s hardly the only one, and they aren’t going to take the best offensive lineman available if that player isn’t a good value. Of course, there’s plenty of time for Osemele to move up in the ranks.
