2012 NFL Mock Draft: Steelers Take Dontari Poe In SB Nation's Latest Mock

SB Nation’s latest mock draft has the Steelers selecting Memphis nose tackle Dontari Poe with the No. 24 overall pick. That’s been a popular Steelers pick in mock draft, due to the Steelers’ need to think about a replacement for Casey Hampton. Here’s SB Nation’s rationale.

Casey Hampton is 35, which is like 65 in football years. He also tore his ACL last year. Poe is unquestionably the top nose tackle prospect in the draft. The Steelers defense will appreciate a young new anchor up front, especially one with the athleticism to go with a 350 lbs frame.

That makes sense, of course.

Elsewhere, SB Nation has the Carolina Panthers taking LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers with the No. 8 overall pick. A lot of recent mock drafts have had the Panthers taking LSU’s Devon Still instead, but here he falls to the Seattle Seahawks at No. 11. Still and Brockers are probably the top two talents in the draft at defensive tackle.
