Early Friday morning, Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson was airlifted to a Pittsburgh-area hospital after being burned in a house fire. Word on his condition has gotten out: "Kirby Wilson has burns on 30 to 50 percent of his body," Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports, citing a "team source." Dulac says Wilson's condition is "serious but not life threatening."
Wilson, 50, joined the Steelers' coaching staff in 2007 upon the retirement of Dick Hoak. Prior to joining Pittsburgh, Wilson held coaching positions with the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Redskins.
The Steelers visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday as part of Wild Card Weekend. Whether they'll be able to maintain their focus while Wilson recovers from his burns has yet to be seen.
SB Nation Pittsburgh will continue to monitor stories about Wilson's condition and will post updates in this StoryStream whenever they're available.
