Tim Tebow's Remarkable First Half Helps Result In Big Broncos Lead

Tim Tebow is crushing the Steelers in ways that just about no one saw coming. At the half, it's 20-6 Broncos, after one huge Tebow pass after another.

After mustering a very Tebow-like zero completions in the first quarter, Tebow has come alive, completing one deep pass after another against the Steelers secondary. First, Tebow (thanks to some help from his offensive line, which gave him about a million years to make the throw) completed a 51-yard bomb to Demaryius Thomas, beating Ike Taylor on the play. The it was a gorgeous 30-yard strike to Eddie Royal to give the Broncos the lead.

Then it was another long pass to Thomas, this one for 58 yards, on play-action to beat the excellent Taylor yet again. Then Tebow ran for a touchdown. A while later, he completed another long pass to Daniel Fells, leading to a field goal to make it 20-6.

Overall, Tebow is 5-for-11 with 185 yards and a touchdown. Before the game, I didn’t have many nice things to say about Tebow as an NFL quarterback, and I’m still not sure I do, but he certainly is a master of the improbable, and now the Steelers are in a huge hole. A miracle comeback would be amusing, given Tebow’s own tendencies for such thing, but the injury-ravaged Steelers certainly don’t look like the favorites anymore, and amazingly, Tebow’s deep passes are the main reason why.
