Dave Lolley of The Observer-Reporter inferred that playing in Week 11 seemed unlikely based upon talking with Brown in addition to backup quarterback Byron Leftwich failing to acknowledge him by name when discussing the receiving corps. Brown said that he was hoping to return to practice by Friday.
The 24-year-old receiver originally sustained the injury during the Steelers' Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants when his feet became tangled with a defender while attempting to convert on a deep pass in the first half. He was forced to sit out the team's Week 10 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs this past Monday.
At the time, head coach Mike Tomlin classified the injury as a mild high ankle sprain and believed that Brown potentially would not miss any time. However, subsequent reports have conflicted with that original diagnosis and some believe Brown may miss an extended period of time with an undisclosed ankle injury.
