Pittsburgh signs Derek Moye, a 2012 graduate of Penn State, for wide receiver depth.
Moye was undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. To make room on the roster, the Steelers cut tight end Jamie McCoy.
Moye signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins after being undrafted. He was waived on June 12 and then picked up by the New Orleans Saints a day later. The Saints released Moye before the start of the season.
Moye, 24, had a successful career as a Penn State Nittany Lion. As a sophomore in 2009, he caught 48 passes for 785 yards and six touchdowns. His best season came as a junior when he caught 53 passes for 886 yards and eight touchdowns.
He finished his Penn State career with 144 catches, 2,395 yards and 18 touchdown catches. He averaged 16.6 yards per catch in four seasons.
