NFL Free Agency 2012: Jerricho Cotchery Looking For Long-Term Deal With Pittsburgh Steelers

While the headlines in Pittsburgh revolve around the Steelers' offseason dance with Hines Ward, another wide receiver expressed his desire on Monday night to sign a long-term deal and finish out his career in Pittsburgh. Jerricho Cotchery told Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger that returning to the Steelers would be an "ideal situation." Vrentas reported in her piece that Cotchery was looking for a four- or five-year deal, as the former Jet, who's spent only one season in Pittsburgh, expressed a strong desire to stay in Western Pennsylvania.

Via Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger:

I'm everything that they thought I would be, so from their standpoint, they definitely would want me back. And I expressed the same desire, so we'll see what happens.

Cotchery spent seven seasons with the Jets before signing a one-year deal with the Steelers last summer in the mad-dash week of free agency after the lockout ended. He caught 16 balls for 237 yards and two touchdowns last season, and served as a nice slot receiver supporting Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace. While Cotchery and the Steelers appear to have mutual admiration and interest in continuing a relationship, the realities of the salary cap may prevent a multiyear deal for the supporting piece.
