Memphis nose tackle Dontari Poe, a name that has been linked with the Pittsburgh Steelers in many mock drafts, had his workouts today in Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine. His numbers certainly impressed the scouts there.
He wound up bench pressing the 225 pound bar a total of 44 times, the best at the combine so far Monday. What was also impressive in his workouts was his 40-yard dash time, clocking in at 4.87 seconds.
The big concern about this is that these performances will raise his draft stock to the point where the Steelers could possibly miss out on him. Pittsburgh has the overall No. 24 pick in April's draft and is currently looking for some new talent across the lines on both offense and defense. If Poe does get selected before the Steelers can take him, the Steelers might go in the direction of offensive line to help quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
