2012 NFL Draft: How Will Steelers Handle The Offensive Tackle Position?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a number of holes on the roster they need to fill heading into the draft, and one of the most popular in mocks around the Internet is the interior offensive line. They could certainly use a guard to help out up front, but as Behind the Steel Curtain points out, their solutions at tackle aren't exactly locks either. While they have solid players penciled into those spots, their health is certainly not guaranteed and it's possible that the tackle position could go from a position of strength to one of weakness very quickly. But BTSC has a solution, and it's trying to find some versatile backups in the draft.

Ideally, if they're looking to start (Marcus) Gilbert and (Willie) Colon this year, a lower-priced veteran and possibly a rookie backing those positions up would seem the most logical path. The issue is, they can't count on (Max) Starks returning immediately, and will have to come up with a plan of attack that doesn't involve the long-time Steelers veteran. That could be to go with a guy like (Cordy) Glenn, if available, at No. 24.

Glenn is listed as a guard in every mock draft you will see, but he is versatile enough to slide over and play some tackle if the situation calls for it. Best case scenario the Steelers have their starting tackles in place and Glenn helps build up the interior of the line, but if injuries strike Glenn could fill in at tackle in a pinch.
