2012 NFL Draft Results: West Virginia's Najee Goode Selected By Buccaneers In Round 5

West Virginia is getting back into the draft in the late rounds on Saturday. Bruce Irvin was the highest West Virginia draft pick since Adam Jones, but the Mountaineers did not have a player selected on Friday night in Rounds 2 or 3. They're getting back into the action on Saturday afternoon, however, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Keith Tandy and Najee Goode in back-to-back rounds.

Goode went with the No. 140 pick overall, and the fifth pick of the fifth round. It was an impressive journey, to go from walk-on to draft pick, where he will likely be a two-down defender on the inside for the Bucs. West Virginia fans hate to see him go, but can't help but be happy for his success, via The Smoking Musket:

Wherever the team needed him, he filled the hole. He was also a walk-on at West Virginia. So that just make this story even sweeter. Obviously, he didn't get the same attention as Bruce Irvin. But he was every bit as integral to the success the defense has had the past two years.
