2012 NFL Draft Results: Steelers Select Oregon TE David Paulson With No. 240 Pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected tight end David Paulson out of Oregon with the No. 33 pick in the 7th round, and the No. 240 pick overall. It was the second pass-catching prospect the Steelers selected at the bottom of the final round, taking Paulson just nine picks after they selected wide receiver Toney Clemons. It's the first of three compensatory picks for Pittsburgh at the end of the draft.

He was rated as a draftable pass catching tight end, even though he's a bit undersized at 245 pounds and will struggle athletically against NFL caliber linebackers in coverage. But he's been a consistent presence for one of the country's best programs, reliably catching everything throw his way in an offense that does not necessarily prioritize the tight ends. His durability and reliability will likely make him a contributor in the tight end rotation for the Steelers.
