Mel Kiper says the Steelers did a great job getting value in the first and second rounds of last weekend’s 2012 NFL Draft, in which they picked offensive linemen David DeCastro and Mike Adams.
Best value picks on 1st rd – OFFENSE – Riley Reiff to Det & DeCastro to Pitts. DEFENSE – Ingram to SD
Best value picks in 2nd rd – OFF- Glenn, Buff, Martin, Miami, Konz, Atl, Adams, Pitts.DEF – Upshaw – Balt, Reyes, SD, Worthy, GB, David,TB
It’s hard to argue with that assessment, since it’s surprising those players were on the board when the Steelers picked them. Cordy Glenn, Peter Konz and Courtney Upshaw also lasted longer than they probably should have.
Kiper also says the Steelers did well in the fourth round, when they traded up to select nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu from the University of Washington.
Best value 4th rd -OFF-Miller, Miami, Jones, Houst, Cousins, Wash, Massie, AZ, Charles, Cincy,DEF -Ta’Amu, Pitts, Boykin, Phila Crick,Houst
