In the midst of a May minicamp, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a handful of roster moves on Wednesday morning. Out is tight end Wes Lyons. Replacing him on the roster is linebacker Brandon Johnson. The twin moves come a day after the team signed long snapper Matt Katula.
Johnson was a fifth-round pick by the Cardinals in 2006. He joined the Bengals in 2009, and has played there until now. He started all 16 games for Cincinnati last year, contributing on special teams as well. Lyons has been on and off the Steelers' roster since last training camp last season.
Also revealed on Wednesday was news that wide receiver Connor Dixon was placed on the team's waived/injured list. That move freed up the roster spot for Katula.
