BCS Rankings, Week 9: Penn State Ranked No. 19, West Virginia Clings To No. 25

The Week 9 BCS Standings have just been released, and the Penn State Nittany Lions have climbed two spots in the rankings. Coming off a 34-24 win over the Northwestern Wildcats, Penn State is now ranked No. 19 after being No. 21 in the first iteration of the rankings that determine who will meet in the BCS National Championship Game.

The West Virginia Mountaineers, despite an awful 49-23 loss at the hand of the Syracuse Orange Friday night, find themselves 25th in the standings. West Virginia is the lone Big East team in the BCS Top 25.

The LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide maintained the first and second positions, with Oklahoma State, Boise State and Clemson rounding out the Top 5.

College Football Rankings, Week 9: Penn State At No. 19 In USA Today Coaches Poll

Here are the Week 9 college football rankings for the USA Today Coaches Poll. Penn State is up to No. 19 after beating Northwestern, while West Virginia falls to No. 24 after losing to Syracuse on Friday.

The Mountaineers are joined in the top 25 by one other Big East team, Cincinnati, which is at No. 23.

Michigan State is at No. 10 after beating Wisconsin, while the Badgers fall to No. 11. Other Big Ten schools include Nebraska at No. 13 and Michigan at No. 17.

Week 9 College Football Rankings: West Virginia Falls To No. 25 In AP Poll, Penn State At No. 21

The Week 9 AP College Football Rankings are out. Unsurprisingly, it was a tough week for West Virginia, which fell to No. 25 after an ugly loss to Syracuse. Penn State, meanwhile, is at No. 21 after knocking off Northwestern.

After Michigan State’s dramatic win over Wisconsin, the Spartans are the highest-ranked Big Ten team, at No. 9. Wisconsin falls to No. 12, and is followed by Nebraska at No. 13. Michigan is at No. 17.

Cincinnati joins WVU as the only Big East teams in the standings. The Bearcats are at No. 24.

Oklahoma, meanwhile, falls to No. 11 after losing against Texas Tech.
