The West Virginia Mountaineers were handed a big upset on Friday night in an exhibition game against the Division II Northern Kentucky Norse.
The West Virginia Mountaineers were handed a shocking loss late on Friday night as they fell to the Division II Northern Kentucky Norse.
A three-point shot in the final seconds sealed the 77-74 loss in front of a stunned WVU home crowd. Mountaineer Truck Bryant hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 74 with less than 10 seconds left. Unfortunately, NKU inbounded the ball and Eshaunte Jones put the game away with a 25-footer with only 1.1 seconds left on the clock.
WVU looked unprepared for the Norse through much of the game, at one point in the first half trailing by 17 points. Bryant led the Mountaineers scoring with 24 points. Kevin Jones was also a bright spot for WVU with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Although this is only an exhibition game, the Mountaineers are almost certainly worried about this poor showing against a Division II team.
