After taking a four-point lead into the half on Saturday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, West Virginia used a big second half to coast to an 84-64 victory at the Coliseum in Morgantown.
Kevin Jones led the way for the Mountaineers in the scoring and rebounding columns, posting a 22-point, 8-rebound line on the afternoon. Darryl Bryant contributed 14 rebounds, five assists and two steals while Deniz Kilicli added 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Aaron Brown scored eight points on 3-5 shooting off the bench.
Chris Hawkins-Mast and Terence Jones had 22 and 20 points respectively for the Islanders.
West Virginia won the rebounding margin 33-25 and forced 21 turnovers. This allowed the Mountaineers to outshoot their opponents 55-49, plenty to build a nice cushion to hold on for victory.
Next up for the now 7-2 Mountaineers is Tennessee Tech at home.

The West Virginia Mountaineers tipped off against the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders, looking to improve to 7-2. In the first half, the Islanders were able to keep the game close, going into halftime down by just four points. The Islanders actually led the game early, going on an 8-2 run to open the game. The 'Eers battled back however, taking back the lead. The 'Eers held and maintained the lead until the Islanders pulled within four before the half.
Guard Chris Hawkins-Mast hit on all five of his free throws to score 13 points and four rebounds, leading the way for the Islanders. Guard Terrence Jones also picked up another 8 points in the first half. For West Virginia, guards Darryl Bryant and Jabarie Hinds each came away with six points in the first half, while Pat Forsyth and Kevin Noreen both picked up four rebounds and three points each off the bench.

After a rough start to the season, the West Virginia Mountaineers (6-2) have won five of their last six games, and now welcome a Texas A&M Corpus Christi (1-6) team that has lost four game in a row to WVU Coliseum Saturday afternoon.
