Noel Devine Joins UFL's Omaha Nighthawks

Former WVU Mountaineers running back Noel Devine has signed with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL, West Virginia Illustrated reports.

Devine signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in July, but he got cut a few days later. Now he's joining former quarterback Pat White (who's a member of the Virginia Destroyers) in the UFL.

Devine surely would have been a role player in the NFL - primarily a return guy. His size would be a detriment there, and his speed probably wouldn't be enough to make up for NFL defensive players' increased quickness. In the UFL, though, he has a better chance of contributing, although he'll have to compete with none other than Maurice Clarrett, a fellow Nighthawks running back, for playing time. Also, the travel in the UFL sounds awful - the four teams are in Virginia, Omaha, Las Vegas and Sacramento.
