WVU went into halftime down 27-7, but they aren’t done yet. LSU missed a field goal on its first drive, and then Geno Smith, Tavon Austin and Tyler Urban led the Mountaineers’ charge down the field. Smith completed two passes to Austin for 48 yards, then hit Urban for a 12-yard touchdown pass.
The Mountaineer defense forced the Tigers into a three-and-out, and then the two teams traded punts. Toward the end of the third quarter, though, the Mountaineers got the ball back, and Smith threw a pass to Austin (again!) for a 73-yard gain, setting up a one-yard run by Dustin Garrison.
… Unfortunately, the Mountaineers then gave up a kickoff return touchdown by Morris Claiborne. The Tigers now lead 34-21. It’s a shame that happened – the Mountaineers had been back within a touchdown. There’s still a quarter left to play.
