West Virginia vs. Texas 2012: Game time, TV schedule, odds and more

Rob Christy-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The West Virginia Mountaineers hit the road for their second game in the Big 12, and they'll face another team ranked in the top 10 in Texas.

The West Virginia Mountaineers will make their road debut in the Big 12 during Week 6 with a trip to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns.

WVU lit up the scoreboard in their conference opener last week, hanging 70 points on the Baylor Bears and setting all sorts of offensive records. The Longhorns should provide a stiffer test on the road, but this one is also expected to be a shootout. Texas is favored by 6.5 points.

Geno Smith stole all the headlines in Week 5, throwing for more than 650 yards and eight touchdowns. Dana Holgorsen's offense is firing on all cylinders heading into the top 10 clash with the Longhorns, who have given up more than 30 points in their last two games against BCS-conference opponents.

But Texas will counter with one of the country's top rushing attacks and an emerging quarterback in David Ash. The Horns average 228 yards per game on the ground, presenting a different kind of challenge from the one the WVU defense faced last week against Art Briles and Baylor.

The game will be one of three that features head-to-head matchups inside the top 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and FOX will have the national broadcast.
