Although the 2011-2012 season was a disappointing one for Pitt, the West Virginia Mountaineers should be in the field of 68 teams come Selection Sunday, as many experts have them making it into the NCAA Tournament.
Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation's latest field has the Mountaineers playing as a No. 9 seed in the Midwest with a second round matchup against St. Mary's in Omaha. Hypothetically, a win by West Virginia in this predicted bracket would more than likely lead to a matchup with No. 1-seeded Missouri Tigers in the third round.
Joe Lunardi of ESPN actually has the same WVU / St. Mary's matchup, though he has St. Mary's as a No. 7 seed and WVU as a No. 10 seed, with the game being played in Greensboro, N.C. He has the winner of that game playing the winner of the North Carolina-Davidson contest.
