WVU basketball announces on its Facebook page that senior forward Kevin Jones has been named the Big East Player Of The Week.
↵Jones had 22 points and 16 rebounds in West Virginia's 92-75 win over DePaul on Tuesday. He also had 18 points (albeit on 6-of-18 shooting) and 11 boards in WVU's 50-44 win over a tough South Florida defense on Saturday. The South Florida win was huge, in that it ended up helping WVU to a first-round bye in the Big East Tournament, and in that it was on the road against a good team that itself was fighting for its seed in the conference tournament. (South Florida wound up sixth; had it won, it would have been fourth and earned a double-bye.)
↵Jones has been the Mountaineers' most consistent and best player this season, averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.
