Today's game between the Texans and Titans featured a fight between Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan that made Richard Seymour's sucker-punch of Ben Roethlisberger last week look downright tender. Johnson managed to rip off Finnegan's helmet and land a couple of pretty strong punches. Johnson and Finnegan were both ejected after the fight. Here's the video:

If the NFL's recent pattern of fines is any indication, Johnson and Finnegan will be fined, like, $2000 each for this. Meanwhile, James Harrison will hit a wideout a little too hard during a play and be suspended for a year. Finnegan says he wants to be "the dirtiest player in the league," and this fight will surely help him achieve that reputation. The fight also offers the NFL the opportunity to show it understands the distinctions between hits made in the course of play, punches thrown after the whistle, and full-blown fights that have nothing to do with playing football, but I wouldn't bet on the NFL seizing that opportunity. The Steelers have been at the center of the controversy over suspensions in the NFL this year. Let's see how the NFL rules in this one.
