Every so often, we'll be looking at Steelers who might impact your fantasy football team. Despite their winning ways, the Steelers don't necessarily churn out glamorous fantasy football performers, but running back Rashard Mendenhall ranks high among top fantasy performers right now - he takes a large majority of the Steelers' carries, and he's consistent, having rushed for at least 69 yards in every game so far except in Week 7 against the Dolphins.
Mendenhall is the only player currently on Yahoo's big board, but Ben Roethlisberger ranks just outside the top 50 and might be a good buy-low candidate right now after a very weak game for him against New Orleans. Hines Ward also ranks just outside the top 50. Ward is now 34, a dangerous age for a receiver, and is on pace for just 834 yards receiving, which would be his second-worst total since 2000-2001. Some of that, though, is surely due to Roethlisberger's absence at the beginning of the season, when the Steelers didn't have much of a passing attack at all. Fellow receiver Mike Wallace actually has a few more yards than Ward does, despite only having 17 receptions on the season; when he catches one, he tends to go a long way with it.
All these guys are playable this week against the Cincinnati Bengals, who rank in the bottom half of the NFL in both pass and rush yards per game. The Bengals have also allowed about nine more points per game than the Steelers, so look out for lots of Mendenhall if the Steelers grab an early lead.
