Penguins Vs. Sabres: Evgeni Malkin Still Out As Sidney Crosby And Pens Try To Extend Streaks

The seemingly-unbeatable Penguins take on the Buffalo Sabres tonight on the road at 7:00. The two teams last met on November 24, when Marc-Andre Fleury posted his first shutout of the season en route to a 1-0 Penguins victory. That was back when Fleury was just starting to get hot, but he has been excellent since then, allowing only one or two goals in all of the six games since he shut out the Sabres.

The Penguins will try to run their winning streak to a dozen games tonight, and Sidney Crosby will try to run his point streak to 18 games. Unfortunately, they'll continue to be without Evgeni Malkin. Malkin's knee was supposed to have been improved, and he practiced this morning, but he has been ruled out for tonight. In his absence, Dustin Jeffrey will center the fourth line.

The Sabres have won three of their last four, beating the Blue Jackets, Senators and Sharks but losing to the Bruins in overtime.
