Ravens' Jameel McClain, Haloti Ngata Fined For Hits Vs. Steelers

The Steelers are probably pleased today after the NFL handed down two fines to Ravens players Jameel McClain and Haloti Ngata on Monday for illegal hits in Pittsburgh's 13-10 win at Baltimore on Sunday night.

McClain was fined $40,000 for his hit on Steelers tight end Heath Miller, who had he neck snapped backward when McClain hit him while Miller was trying to catch a pass in the second half. Ngata was docked $15,000 for putting his hand in the face mask of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on a sack in the first quarter.

For a Steelers team that has often been on the other side of fines from the NFL for so-called illegal hits, Monday's fines likely represent a degree of equal justice after linebacker James Harrison had been fined a combined $125,00 for hits made earlier this season. Perhaps this week will yield fewer cries of selective fines from the Steelers and less distractions.
