Former Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Flozell Adams visited the Steelers today, in the wake of what appears to be a season-ending injury for Pittsburgh lineman Willie Colon.
Adams, 35, who played 11 seasons in Dallas, mostly at left tackle, could serve as an effective stop-gap with Colon out for an extended period, as Pittsburgh's depth at offensive line is young and unproven. A one-year deal for Adams would probably shift left tackle Max Starks to the unit's right side, so Adams could operate out of his natural position, left tackle.
Some are unconvinced that rookie Maurkice Pouncey could replace Colon at the tackle spot. We'll have to wait and see who gets signed and who lines up where once training camp starts.
