Citing unnamed sources, Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports the Pittsburgh Pirates will make RHP Jameson Taillon, whom analyst Keith Law dubbed "the hardest-throwing pitcher among the top prep arms this year," the second pick of tonight's Major League Baseball draft.
Olney has changed his tune a bit from earlier today, when he Tweeted the Pirates would take either Taillon or shortstop Manny Machado. However, he has indeed narrowed it down to Taillon.
Bucs Dugout, SB Nation's Pirates blog, would rather see Pittsburgh go with Machado:
Taillon is supposed to be a great talent, but there are just so many things that can go wrong when you take a pitcher second overall. The Bucs can't afford to mess up a second overall pick.
We'll see how it all plays out later tonight; the draft starts at 7 PM EST.
