Sergei Gonchar Signs With Ottawa Senators

New, 6 comments

Defenseman Sergei Gonchar signed a three-year contract worth $5.5 million per season with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

The deal was signed within the first twenty minutes of the opening of the NHL’s free agency period and includes a no-trade clause.

Gonchar spent the last five seasons with the Penguins, making an All-Star appearance in 2008.

It was rumored the Penguins were only willing to offer a two-year deal at about $5 million per season.

More to come on this and other free agent activity later.
