Neil Walker Homers In Loss

The Rockies piled up 15 hits, including 12 singles, this afternoon to beat the Pirates 9-3. Paul Maholm allowed eight runs and 14 baserunners in 5.1 innings in taking the loss. Ubaldo Jimenez pitched seven strong innings, allowing one run while striking out six. Carlos Gonzalez and Brad Hawpe hit solo shots for the Rockies, while Neil Walker hit an impressive but meaningless solo homer off of Rafael Betancourt in the eighth. Bucs reliever Steven Jackson allowed four hits and the Hawpe homer in 1.2 innings in his first game since being recalled from Indianapolis.
