Former Penn State defensive lineman Jared Odrick has signed his rookie contract with the Miami Dolphins and will report to training camp on time.
↵The five-year deal could be worth up to 13 million dollars, with 7.13 million of that guaranteed.
↵Potentially the best news, however, is that the first rounder will likely have a chance to contribute immediately with the Dolphins' defensive unit.
↵↵↵Odrick is the front-runner for a starting job as a replacement for veteran Phillip Merling, who hurt his Achilles' tendon this month and will miss the entire season.
↵"There was an added sense of urgency because of the injury to Merling," Rosenhaus said. "We thought there was chance for Jared to be the starting end."
↵
Obviously Merling's loss could be Odrick's gain. A year from now, Odrick could be another one of Larry Johnson Sr.'s former pupils who has made Penn State very proud.
