Kerner is a three-star defensive end prospect, according to Rivals, and comes to Happy Valley by way of Fairview. Kerner picked Penn State over Iowa, the lone alternative he was considering at the time of his verbal, though he'd been pursued by other schools including Minnesota, Northwestern and West Virginia.
↵The new addition marks Penn State's second in less than a week after spending much of the summer with only one commit in the fold. Kerner joins tight end Kyle Carter and fellow defensive end Shawn Oakman as PSU's third commit for 2011.
↵The Lions still have a ways to go on the recruiting trail, however, in less than a week's time things have gone from rather gloomy to manageable with this year's small recruiting class. With a few more additions, Penn State should be right back on schedule.
