The Bucs may send Class AAA pitcher Hayden Penn to Japan:
↵↵↵Meanwhile, Chiba Lotte is closing in on an agreement to bring in Hayden Penn, who is currently playing for the Pirates’ 3A affiliate. Rotation depth is Lotte’s weakness, particularly with Yuki Karakawa on the shelf, and the Marines have a foreign roster spot to allocate, so another starter is a sensible acquisition.

Penn, you'll recall, was claimed from the Marlins right before the season started. He was so irredeemably, and yet memorably, awful in three appearances for the Bucs that his facial hair got a nickname. The Pirates sent him to Indianapolis, where he's been uneven. He's still only 25, has a nice fastball, and was once a top prospect with the Orioles, so it would be nice to keep him around. But I'm not exactly going to grow Whiskers of Remembrance if he leaves.
