Nellie King, a former Pirates pitcher and broadcaster, died today at 82. King pitched from the Pirates from 1954-1957, posting a 3.58 career ERA. King then served as a Pirates broadcaster along with Bob Prince and Jim Woods between 1967 and 1975. After that, he worked for Duquesne University and the Eastern Eight (now Atlantic 10) conference, as a sports information director, publicity director, basketball commentator, and golf coach.
