The Pirates have signed 23rd-rounder Jared Lakind, Pirates Prospects reports. Lakind is both a pitcher and a hitter; the Bucs announced him as a first baseman, so that’s presumably what he’ll play in the minors. He had a commitment to Arkansas and was a highly-regarded player before the draft, so the Pirates will probably pay him a pretty healthy bonus. This looks like a nice addition to their draft class.
The Bucs’ top two picks, Jameson Taillon and Stetson Allie, remain unsigned.
