The Houston Chronicle quotes a source saying there is “virtually no chance” the Pirates will fail to sign first-round pick Jameson Taillon before Monday night’s deadline.
The same article reports that seventh-round pick Austin Kubitza, who had been seeking a large bonus from the Pirates, will honor his commitment to Rice. He’s a good prospect, but he wanted $1.5 million to $2 million, and I’ve seen no indication that he’s that good.
