Arena Football Coming To Pittsburgh

The Trib reports that the Arena Football League will start an expansion team in Pittsburgh this spring:

Multiple sources confirmed Wednesday that the Arena Football League is returning to one of its original cities with an expansion team whose ownership group includes former Steeler and NFL Hall of Famer Lynn Swann. An announcement is expected Friday at Consol Energy Center.

The indoor football team will play home games in the city's state-of-the-art arena, which opened last night.

So you'll be able to see spring football in a beautiful new building? Cool. This arrangement might not last forever (the article notes that there's a ton of turnover in the AFL, with three cities besides Pittsburgh also adding new teams, and Pittsburgh's old AFL team the Gladiators moved to Tampa Bay after four years), but arena football is definitely a good time. I've had fun watching arena football in Wheeling, and it'll be nice to have that in Pittsburgh too.
