Alabama's Mark Ingram Injured

Heisman Trophy winner and All-SEC running back Mark Ingram has a left knee injury and will miss the Crimson Tide's season opener against San Jose State Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

ESPN reported earlier today that Ingram underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday morning after an injury sustained during practice Monday. The big news?

Although Alabama officials are ruling Ingram out only for the first game at this point, it's unlikely he would be able to get back in time for the Crimson Tide's second game, against No. 19 Penn State on Sept. 11 in Tuscaloosa. Saban said Ingram would be managed on a week-to-week basis after Saturday.

While the Tide still boast a great backup running back in sophomore Trent Richardson, this would figure to be a potentially game changing break for the Nittany Lions, who are going to need all the help they can get to take down the defending national champions.
