It wasn't pretty, but the Pirates picked up homers from John Bowker (who also singled and doubled) and Andrew McCutchen and managed to exploit Diamondbacks hitters' willingness to swing at high fastballs to beat Arizona 9-6. It was Bowker's biggest game with the Bucs since arriving from San Francisco in the Javier Lopez trade. Another new arrival, James McDonald, picked up the win. McDonald's outing wasn't a gem, as he threw way too many pitches and could only get through five innings, but he picked up six strikeouts. Chris Snyder also added three hits for the Pirates. The Bucs' record now stands at 50-98.
