True freshman Robert Bolden will be Penn State's starting quarterback against Youngstown State this weekend. Bolden is the first true freshman to begin a season as PSU's starting quarterback during Joe Paterno's entire tenure as head coach.
Paterno on the quarterback situation:
"Based on what we have seen to this point, Bolden has a slight edge right now, but we are confident all three quarterbacks are ready to go and hope to give them an opportunity to play until we settle on the one that gives us the best chance to win," Paterno said in a statement.
Paterno has already said he's sick of talking about who's going to be his quarterback, but it sounds like he's opening the door to more questions about his choice if Bolden doesn't play brilliantly right away. Still, this has to be an exciting decision for Penn State fans - this is a bold pick with an eye toward the future.
