In a scheduling move that surprised absolutely no one, Penn State and Temple have renewed their "Gridiron Series" through 2016.
↵↵↵The long-time intrastate rivals will be meeting for the 40th time this Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff in Beaver Stadium. The teams are in the midst of playing over seven consecutive years. Penn State will travel to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 2011, and the Owls will return to State College on Sept. 22, 2012. The Nittany Lions lead the series, 35-3-1.
↵The three games recently added will have Temple visiting Penn State on Aug. 30, 2014, and on Sept. 17, 2016. The Nittany Lions will play in Philadelphia on Sept. 19, 2015.

Temple is coming off its first bowl appearance in decades and is off to a 3-0 start in 2010, marking clear progress with the program under ex-Nittany Lion Al Golden. No one is going to confuse Temple for Alabama or even Oregon State, but the days of "Yeah, but you play Temple!" against Penn State's schedule might be coming to an end if the program continues to grow.
