The Pens began their exhibition schedule before a sold-out crowd last night at the new CONSOL Energy Center, defeating the Red Wings 5-1. Ryan Craig scored two goals, and Brett Sterling added a goal and assisted Mike Comrie on the first goal ever scored at the new arena. Sidney Crosby scored a goal but left the game with a sore hip.
Today the Pens cut 13 players from camp:
Forwards Jesse Boulerice, Chris Collins, Joey Haddad, Nick Petersen, Ryan Schnell, Zack Sill, Alex Smigelski, Kevin Veilleux Geoff Walker, and defensemen Jason DeSantis, Derek Peltier Carl Sneep and goalie Patrick Killeen have all been sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Pens also sent Tyler Brown and Alex Pechursky to their junior teams.
