Report: Khem Birch Picks Pittsburgh

Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com reports that class of 2012 big man prospect Khem Birch from Canada has verbally committed to coach Jamie Dixon and the Pittsburgh Panthers basketball program.

Canadian Khem Birch, ranked fourth in the junior class by Scout.com and No. 2 in the nation by ESPN.com, gave Panthers coach Jamie Dixon a verbal pledge on Wednesday.

``I chose Pittsburgh because I really feel comfortable with Coach (Pat) Skerry and Coach Doxon and I feel that they can help me develop."

The 6-foot-9, 200-pound Birch, who hails from Quebec, spent last season at Winchendon School (Mass.) and has transferred to nearby Notre Dame Prep this year.

Scout.com rates Birch a five-star prospect and the No. 1 power forward in the Class of 2012.
