Penn State Basketball Adds Center Patrick Ackerman

Penn State head coach Ed DeChellis made some recruiting news Sunday when New England center Patrick Ackerman committed to the Nittany Lions' class of 2011 after visiting Happy Valley for the weekend, according to Fight On State.

Ackerman is a 6-foot-11 big man with shot-blocking ability to go with a solid scoring touch. He'll be a big addition to a Penn State front court due to be decimated by graduation this spring when senior forwards including Andrew Jones and Jeff Brooks leave the program.

With Ackerman's commitment, Penn State has now secured verbals from two centers in the Class of 2011, as Peter Alexis has been in the fold for a few months. It finally looks as though DeChellis has re-established some depth down low with those two joining forwards Sasa Borovnjak and Jonathan Graham (and possibly Billy Oliver depending upon his headache situation).
