Disaster Averted: Nike Won't Mess With Penn State's Uniforms

New, 6 comments

As Pitt, West Virginia and other programs are adopting these Nike Pro Combat (yay sensitivity) uniforms, Penn State is, as usual, standing pat and refusing to to veer from the traditional blue and whites with black shoes.

That didn't stop Nike from trying to screw it up.

If the jerseys hadn't brought the apocalypse upon Happy Valley, you can bet the blue helmets would have. Thankfully, someone in the athletic department put the kibosh on these things and State College avoided a certain doom.

Look at the uniforms of Florida, Alabama and even, to an extent, Ohio State. You can look at them and say they were based somewhere on something traditional.

↵

But Penn State's? A blue helmet? Seriously?

↵

Do us a favor, Nike, and stop even thinking about trying to mess with one of the most iconic uniforms in sports and thank your lucky stars Penn State even let you put the Swoosh on the jersey.
