Penn State Vs. Illinois First Half Notes: Under 8 Timeout

Illinois has been very sloppy here in the early going. At this moment, the Fighting Illini have seven turnovers already, and Penn State isn't particularly aggressive. Lots of mental lapses going all over the place. The team doesn't look very prepared.

Penn State is winning the early rebound battle. That was a key element of the upset win over Michigan State on Saturday and if the Nittany Lions are going to take down Chief tonight, they'll need to continue the hard work on the boards.

Tim Frazier has been very active on both ends. He's had his hands on the ball a lot and is directing the Penn State offense almost exclusively at the moment. Talor Battle isn't seeing many touches at all.

Quiet start for Jeff Brooks. He isn't on the board yet for Penn State after two big games against Purdue and Michigan State.

With 7:49 to play in the half, Penn State continues to lead Illinois 18-13.
