Mountaineer Madness 2011: West Virginia Basketball To Kick Off Season

The West Virginia Mountaineers kick off the season on Friday in their annual Mountaineer Madness celebration.

The West Virginia Mountaineers will kick off the 2011-12 season tonight with their annual Mountaineer Madness celebration and practice. Here is what you can expect, via CBS Sports. Bob Huggins, who coaches the men's team, and Mike Carey, who coaches the women's team, will speak. Both teams will raise banners for last year's NCAA Tournament. Players will be there, and the men's team will have a slam-dunk contest. There will be a scrimmage as well. There will be time for fans to get autographs afterwards.

The team will likely need a lot of introductions because they only have four players returning from last year's squad. According to the Daily Athenaeum, Coach Huggins knows that it won't be easy.

"It is going to be a challenge. I've talked about this a bunch, but different people learn different ways," Huggins said. "It's hard to tell that when you go watch guys in the AAU circle. They're all going to learn, it's just a matter of how quickly."

So head on over to WVU Coliseum tonight to meet the new Mountaineers, doors open at 6:30.
